Courteous Speaking Manner
Japan is a country where people observe rules and proper manners. Being courteous when speaking is considered to be an important manner by many people.
Before taking a picture or touching anything at a tourist spot, do ask for permission. For example, saying “Excuse me, can I order?” to the waiter when you want to order a meal at a restaurant. Also, if you want to touch a decoration, you should first politely ask “Is it alright if I touch this?” to the store clerk. By showing courtesy when speaking, it will leave a good impression to others and can help you avoid unnecessary trouble.
