08.15.2019

Flower arrangement or ikebana is a disciplined art where various cuttings of seasonal twigs and flowers are used to express a unique beauty and to give an impact on the importance of life. It is also an art that cherishes polite manners.

There are different forms of ikebana depending on the way the flowers are arranged.

【Rikka】

One of the basic form of ikebana. Various kinds of flowers complement each other to portray a landscape scenery on a vase.

【Shouka】

This style of ikebana is usually decorated in tea ceremony rooms since the trend of sadou began. Shouka is suitable for decorating small rooms.

【Jiyuuka】

This style has no set form and the practitioner is able to freely express his ideas. Nowadays, people are doing on-stage free style ikebana demonstration events.

If you have a chance, try to see a live demonstration of ikebana and appreciate the beauty and art of flower arranging.
