Miso Soup

Miso soup goes best with rice and is one of the indispensable dishes found in the Japanese meal. It is made by mixing ingredients such as vegetables, tofu, seaweed, shellfish etc. with miso paste. Sipping on warm miso soup especially in cold mornings will make you feel good as if energy is springing from the core of your body.

The Japanese have been consuming miso soup for a long time. Back when Japan was not that advanced as it is right now, it is said that it was all thanks to rice and miso soup that people during those times were healthy despite that it is just a simple meal. Since miso itself is already nutritious, adding ingredients and turning it into a soup further increases its nutritional value.

The umami of the miso soup is created through the fusion of the miso, soup stock, and the ingredients used. In order to successfully make a delicious miso soup, the soup stock, the type of miso, and the ingredients to be used must be decided thoroughly in a way that the three will combine effectively. There are also different types of miso found in different regions in Japan. In this way, variations such as sweet miso soup, spicy miso soup, and miso soup that brings out the whole flavor of the soup stock can also be enjoyed. How about try making your own miso soup using your favorite ingredients?
