Frequent Use of Arigatou

How many times do you say arigatou or “Thank you” everyday?
Japanese people often use arigatou to express their gratitude in the workplace and in daily life.
Arigatou is a casual word for friends, family, lovers, peers of the same age or younger. In order to say arigatou more politely, we will introduce 5 phrases to express gratitude.
1. Arigatou gozaimasu is a polite expression that expresses thanks and is often used for company workers and seniors.
2. To turn arigatou gozaimasu to an even more polite form, you can say doumo arigatou gozaimasu.
3. You can say hontou ni arigatou gozaimasu for strong emphasis, while you can use hontou ni arigatou casually.
4. If you want to express your gratitude when saying goodbye to someone who has taught you a lot, you should use arigatou gozaimashita instead of arigatou gozaimasu.
5. For someone who helped you a lot, let us say iroiro arigatou gozaimashita.
