Manner of Not Asking Others About Their Salary

What do you think if someone asks you about your salary? Do you think it’s alright? Or is it uncomfortable?

Depending on the country, being asked this question may be normal for some people. However, for Japanese people, they think it is uncomfortable to be asked about income because they think the question lacks common sense. Thus, many people do not want to answer this question.

For Japanese people, no matter how close the friendship, it is difficult to talk about money and is considered taboo.

It is recommended not to even ask colleagues about their income in the workplace.

Indeed, there are many people who feel uncomfortable when asked about their salary, so it is a manner violation to trouble people with this kind of question.

Do not insist in asking others any unpleasant questions, especially regarding their salary.
