Daruma

Have you ever seen a daruma doll? It’s a doll made of paper, with red and round body, and no pupils in its eyes. Even if it is knocked over, it will return to its original position. What meaning does the daruma doll carry? The answer to that is patience! The doll is modeled after the Buddhist monk Bodhidharma. Daruma dolls can be seen in many temples as they are sold as talismans to achieve goals.

The eyes of all daruma dolls in temples have no pupils in them. The reason is that the buyer will be the one to draw its pupils! First, you must decide on a goal. Recently, different colors of daruma dolls are available, where each color has a corresponding meaning. Choose a color that matches your goal. Next, draw one pupil of the doll while thinking about achieving the goal you just made (it does not matter on which eye you will start with).

Once you have finished drawing one pupil, focus and make an effort to achieve your goal. If you are facing difficult times, try to turn to your daruma doll. The daruma doll is watching you fulfilling your goals. Finally, if you succeeded in your goal, draw the other pupil and celebrate for a job well done!

Buy lots of daruma dolls and try to achieve more goals and persevere in challenges just like the daruma doll!
