How to Introduce Yourself

08.02.2019

In a Japanese company, you will be asked to give an introduction to yourself during your first day at work. It is a way of expressing your joy that you joined the company and also a request for support and advice to become an established individual. This is also important in order for your colleagues and superiors to remember your name.

Tips for a Proper Self-Introduction

① Observe proper posture while talking

・Avoid putting your hands in your pocket or touching your head as doing this will give off a bad impression.

② Speak in clearly and loudly

・Introducing oneself in front of many people sure is a tense situation but it is fine to talk slowly as long as you can clearly say your name so that they will be able to remember it.

③ Do not forget to say “yoroshiku onegaishimasu”

・This usually means “pleased to meet you” after an introduction and is used to convey feelings of happiness and gratitude that you are now a part of the company.
