Manners During a Company Nomikai

Company nomikai is an event when you are invited by your coworker or superior to drink. If ever you have this opportunity, try to remember these nomikai manners written below:

  1. 1.Your superior must definitely be seated at the inner part of the room or kamiza. On the other hand, make yourself seated near the exit or shimoza.

2.During kanpai or raising the glass, be careful to make sure that your glass is a bit lower than the superior’s glass.

3.If your coworker or superior’s glass is empty, do pour them some sake.

4.When pouring sake to a superior’s glass, hold the bottle with both hands and make sure that the sake label faces upwards.

There are times when your superior will pour your drink for you. In that case, hold your glass with both hands and humbly receive it.

  1. 5.When drinking, you may feel relaxed but still be careful with your words when talking to your superior.

What do you think, everybody? If you are ever invited to a nomikai, do remember these manners while having fun with your coworkers.
