Basic Manners for Writing a Business Letter
Writing a business letter is done to record work progress with coworkers and to record formal interactions with clients.
Important points of a business letter:
- State the objective clearly
For business letter, remember to make the message easy and simple to understand. A short and simple sentence is easier to read.
- Use keigo or honorific language
Instead of slang, do use keigo when writing sentences. Be careful when using keigo because there is both the sonkeigo and kenjougo forms.
- Write a concrete and specific content
Do not use unclear words, but instead explain the details of the objective in a simple manner.
- Write the main topic at the beginning of the sentence.
In order for the business letter to be easily understood, do write the main topic at the beginning. You can then write the specific details in the later paragraphs.
