Tempura

Tempura is one of the dishes that represents Japanese cuisine. It is a dish that is fried over a great amount of cooking oil through fire.

Tempura is a dish where flour and water mixture is used as batter, then deep fried in oil. At often times, egg is also mixed with the flour-water batter. Some seafood such as (shrimp) ebi, (sand smelt fish) kisu,  or (squid) ika are deep fried while some vegetable tempura is mixed with small shrimp or vegetables, then deep fried again.

Adding tentsuyu or tempura sauce to the dish is commonly used, although salt is also used by others. Eating freshly fried tempura has become very popular due to its delicious crunchy texture. However, it is very oily and has a very high calorie content. Tempura is a fundamental part of Japanese cuisine or washoku. It has become the very popular washoku that an increasing number of foreign tourists “want to eat” and consider it “very delicious”. Tempura is one of the food that represents Japan.
